Tasmania
has two native species of Phyllanthus. They are shrubs that
are found in northern and eastern Tasmania. The flowers are small
and inconspicuous. P. australis is a rare plant found
near streams. It is a wiry undershrub resembling some Gonocarpus
species. It has very small leaves (3-8mm long). P. gunnii
is more common, and has roundish leaves about 1-2 cm long, that are
arranged in two rows along the stem (distichous). |
