Tasmania has
eight native species of
Gentianella (all included in Gentianella diemensis in the Student's
Flora).
These are erect herbs with conspicuous white/purplish flowers that
are sometimes streaked. They are very common in alpine areas,
especially in boggy places, but
also extend to the lowlands. For a number of years these species
were classified as Chionogentias, but recently have been
returned to Gentianella. |
