The Adelanthaceae is a family of liverworts
represented by 2 genera and 4 species in Tasmania. Most species of
this family have wiry stems and the shoots tend to curl over at the
apex. The sporophyte develops from the base of the plant and is
sometimes unprotected by a perianth.
