The Aneuraceae is a family of thallose liverworts represented by 20
taxa in Tasmania. While the genera are easy to distinguish, species
can be hard to tell apart with the naked eye. One taxon,
Vandiemenia ratkowskiana
looks superficially like a member of
the Aneuraceae but the morphology of the reproductive organs and
the lack of oil bodies in the thallus cells suggest that it fits better within the
Metzgeriaceae.
