Kurzia is a genus of minute leafy liverworts and in
Tasmania is represented by 11 species.
Kurzia species are usually erect and dendroid or at least
pinnate. The leaves of typically have 3-6 lobes, often with smaller teeth at the sides of
the lobes. Many species are erect (some with a dendroid form) and
are attached only at the base. The leaves are attached almost
transversely, giving the shoot a cylindrical
appearance.
A species previously called Telaranea dispar with 2-lobed
underleaves on the branches and 3-lobed underleaves on the main stem
has been transferred to Kurzia hippuroides.
A key to the Tasmanian species of Kurzia is being
developed.
