The Mastigophoraceae is leafy liverwort family which in Tasmania is represented by a
single species, Dendromastigophora flagellifera. This is a
epiphytic species of forest.
The shoots are pinnate and pendulous, attached only on the base.
The side branches (pinnae) trail off into flagella at the tips.
The leaves are folded and two-lobed. Underleaves are 4-lobed. The
cells contain very large trigones and 6-12 oil bodies.
