In Tasmania, the Targoniaceae is represented by the single species
Targonia hypophylla. T. hypophylla is a thallose
liverwort growing on soil and rock in damp microsites in otherwise
dry habitats. When fertile, the black pouch-like capsules on the
apex of the thallus are unmistakable. In a sterile state however,
the species closely resembles Asterella drummondii. |
