In Tasmania, the Trichotemnomaceae is represented by only the genus
Trichotemnoma and by one species, T. corrugatum. Disgnostic
features of the genus are the 4-6 lobed leaves which has teeth along
the margins.
T. corrugatum resembles
Chaetophyllopsis whiteleggei in some respects but the leaves
of the former are not as densely hairy. The hairs of T. corrugatum are also
multicellular.
