Lawrencia (Malvaceae) 1:87 |
|
|
|
The two species
of Lawrencia in Tasmania are extremely different to each
other. One (L. spicata) is a common, robust native saltmarsh
rosette herb with flowers in elongate spikes. The leaves are very
distinctive - they have long petioles, and lamina is almost
articulated on the end of the petiole. The other is a small shrub
that grows in very dry, sometimes salty, places (e.g. Township
Lagoon). It is covered in peltate scales, giving in a scaly
appearance. The flowers are axillary and the leaves are small and
more-or-less trilobed. |
