Dicranoloma robustum is a common moss with a widespread distribution
in Tasmania. It grows as loose turfs on rocks, logs and trees in wet
forest, rainforest and even in alpine moorland.
D. robustum is an extremely variable species. In some instances the leaf apices have
a tendency to be broken off.
It is very similar to D.
billarderi in habit and appearance and is most reliably
distinguished from this species microscopically. In the field, the
shoots of D. robustum has a neater look and the leaves are
generally larger than D.
billarderi.
