In Tasmania, the Leptodontaceae is represented by a single taxon,
Forsstroemia producta.
F. producta is an uncommon epiphyte. Plants are
irregularly branched. The stems leaves and branch leaves are of
different sizes. When dry, the stem leaves are densely overlapping
or tightly adpressed but when wet, the leaves spread widely. Leaves
are ovate-lanceolate to ovate-linear and recurved at the margins.
The nerve is usually single and ends before the leaf apex. Capsules
are c. 1.2-2mm and are borne on a stalk about the same length or
slightly shorter.
