The Meesiaceae is a small moss family which has a single Tasmanian
representative, Leptobryum pyriforme. L.
pyriforme is a delicate and slender annual moss that has an
almost cosmpolitan distribution. The turf-forming shoots can get up
to 30mm tall. The capusles are distinctively pear-shaped and fat
towards the mouth. In Tasmania, this species appears
to be a weed of glasshouses.
