One
species of Leycesteria has become naturalised in Tasmania.
Elisha's Tears (L.
formosa; also known as Himalayan honeysuckle) has ovate leaves with acuminate apices and coarsely
serrate margins. They are about 5-15 cm long. The conspicuous part
of the plant, both at the flowering and fruiting stage, are the
large, purplish floral bracts. The inflorescences are pendulous.
