Tasmania has
three introduced species of Aira. These are moderately common
annual weeds of a range of habitats. They are all slender (sometimes
diminutive) plants, but can be so locally abundant as to be
significant weeds. The distinctive features
of these species include the inflorescence which is a spreading
panicle, and the spikelets which are small (~<5mm long),
two-flowered and have a short, slender awn on one or both florets. |
