Tasmania has
one introduced species of Gaudinia (G. fragilis). These is an
uncommon weed of the Midlands. It is a slender erect
annuals with flat leaves. The distinctive features of this species include the
inflorescence which is a narrow spike which breaks up at the base of
each spikelet. The spikelets are arranged in two rows up the
inflorescence, and have 3-5 florets, each with a long, twisted awn. |
