Trisetum spicatum is a reasonably common native alpine and subalpine perennial grass with flat or folded leaves. The distinctive features of this species include the inflorescence which is a narrow spike-like panicle with a hairy stalk, and the multiple-flowered spikelets with an awn about 5mm long.
