Tasmania has
six native and two naturalised species of Coprosma. These
plants are all dioecious, except C.
moorei. The flowers show the typical features of wind
pollination with small petals and sepals, but large stamens (male
flowers) and stigmas (female flowers).
Of the native species, C. hirtella is a shrub with broad, C. quadrifida and C. nitida are narrow
leaved shrubs, which are often spiny, and C. moorei, C.
pumila and C. perpusilla are prostrate plants.
The two naturalised species (C. repens or mirror bush, and
C. robusta) are robust shrubs with large, round, shining
leaves.
