P. verrucosa

Tasmania has
three species of Philotheca. P. verrucosa is common
in dry heaths and sclerophyll woodlands, and has thick leaves and stems
that are lumpy from oil glands. P. virgata is also quite
widespread in dry heaths and has smaller oil glands and thinner
leaves. P. freyciana is very rare and only found on Freycinet,
where it co-occurs with P. virgata. The flowers of all
species usually have five petals and ten stamens, but occasionally
have 4 and 8, respectively.
