Two species of the large genus of poisonous plants, Datura, have become naturalised in Tasmania. D. stramonium (Thorn Apple) and D. ferox are both robust herbs. The flowers are large and white. The fruit are thorny.

Related species, known commonly as Datura, are erect shrubs that are widespread as garden plants, but have not become naturalised.
