Pimelea is a conspicuous and common genus in the Tasmanian flora. There are 18 native species. Most of these are erect shrubs (rarely small trees). However, P. pygmaea is a soft cushion plant and P. filiformis is a prostrate subshrub. In most species the leaves are opposite and decussate.
