Egeria densa
is a widely cultivated species of fishponds and aquaria, but has
become uncommon aquatic weed of ponds and streams in Tasmania. It
grows submerged, and forms a tangled mass of stems. The leaves are
soft and in whorls of four. It resembles its relative
Elodea canadensis,
but has thicker stems and larger leaves and flowers. |
