Gleichenia (Gleicheniaceae) |
|
|
Tasmania has
four native species of Gleichenia (coral ferns). These are
terrestrial plants that grow in wet, peaty places, ranging from sea
level to the alpine zones. They are all moderately robust ferns with
unique form shared with Sticherus
- the fronds split into two (in most species more than
once), then end in very regular bipinnate branches with small
rounded pinnules. In most species of they form distinct pouches. |
