Ophioglossum lusitanicum (Ophioglossaceae)

 
Ophioglossum lusitanicum (adder's tongue) is the only member of this genus in Tasmania. It is an uncommon and very distinctive native fern. It grows in the Central Highlands and also near the coast. Each plant produces one or two tongue shaped leaves 1-4 cm long and an erect spike conical spike carrying the sporangia.
