Sphaerocionium applanatum (formerly known as Aptopteris applanata;
Hymenophyllaceae) |
|
Sphaerocionium applanatum is the only member of this genus in
Tasmania. It
is an uncommon native rainforest
epiphyte. Like all filmy ferns, the leaf laminas are only one cell
thick, but in this species are densely covered in hairs so the
leaves look quite thick and are not translucent. It typically grows
on the trunks of Athrotaxis species, especially
King Billy Pine. |
