Huperzia varia (Lycopodiaceae) |
|
Huperzia
varia (long clubmoss) is a moderately common native
clubmoss that grows in a wide range of habitats in medium to high
rainfall areas of Tasmania, including rock crevices and as an
epiphyte in rainforest. It can be an erect ground plant, but is more
often drooping (giving it a tassel-like appearance). The foliage is
usually more or less dimorphic, with widely spreading leaves lower
down, and more closely appressed leaves higher up. It does not have
sporangia arranged in distinct "cones" (strobili) as in Lycopodium or Lycopodiella. |
