Chasmanthe
floribunda (African cornflag) is a garden plant that has occasionally escaped
into damp roadsides and gullies. It
has a tuft of long, flat leaves (about 1m long, 2-4cm wide) and
often occurs in clumps. Like most
Iridaceae, the stems are flattened with the leaves in two rows. The
