Chasmanthe (Iridaceae) not in the Student's Flora  
Chasmanthe floribunda (African cornflag) is a garden plant that has occasionally escaped into damp roadsides and gullies. It has a tuft of long, flat leaves (about 1m long, 2-4cm wide) and often occurs in clumps. Like most Iridaceae, the stems are flattened with the leaves in two rows. The flowers are unusual in that they are very distinctly arranged in two rows.
