Tasmania has
six species of helmet orchids (Corybas). These small
plants are quite conspicuous. The have a single broad leaf that is
held flat to the ground (though sometimes a little above it). The
flowers are unmistakeable - they are on short stalks (often only
about 1cm) and the upper sepal forms a large, helmet-shaped hood
that is usually dark coloured (often reddish). |
