UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

Undergraduate   Postgraduate   International   Careers Advice   Tasmania FAQs
All courses have a strong "hands-on" component using the large on-site Aquaculture Centre, links within the Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute and work experience to cover practical aquaculture of fish, molluscs and crustaceans, including temperate and tropical species.

Atlantic salmon, trout, seahorses, oysters, abalone, tropical barramundi and prawns are some of the animals used for undergraduate teaching. Interstate research addresses kingfish and southern bluefin tuna. With strong links between the School of Aquaculture and industry through farm visits and a formalised program of work experience, graduates are well placed to enter the workforce.

Several of the large aquaculture companies offer scholarships and some offer management training schemes. Aquaculture graduates are employed directly by industry as farm operators, aquarium operators, technicians and managers or work in associated fields such as policy making, marketing, consultants, export trading, technology production, fisheries biology, aquatic biology and research.
