| When deciding where to
study aquaculture we recommend that you ask the University
that you are considering studying at the following
questions:
1. Will I have access to a large on-site aquaculture
research & teaching
facility that includes temperate & tropical areas
for marine
& freshwater animals?
2. Does the degree course offer me plenty of opportunity
to get lots of hands-on work, including: practicals
for every unit most weeks, group projects allowing
me to develop skills to work in teams, farm visits, & intensive
periods of industry work
experience as a key component of your course?
3. Will I be part of a class that is small, where
friendly interaction is encouraged & where I
will have direct access to lecturers and tutors?
4. Will all my teachers be active researchers
working on key
aquaculture species & with direct links to industry
in Tasmania and Australia?
5. Will I be doing a course that is unique & internationally
recognised and is selected by students from
all over Australia &
the
World?
6. Does the course allow me opportunity to continue
on to undertake a research degree in a research active
environment?
7. Do your units prepare students for the workforce
through work experience, generic skill development,
progressive development of knowledge, career planning
and workshops on job applications.
8. Are guest speakers, international and national,
used to provide industry relevant perspectives - including
speakers from industry, government and research organisations?
