Fraudulent Credit Card Activities
Due to the increase in fraudulent credit card activities worldwide,
MasterCard International are reviewing Business Card transactions
prior to them being downloaded to the University's BCMS system.
In their review they are identifying transactions that may be of
a suspicious or fraudulent nature.
In instances where such transactions are found, MasterCard International
will cancel the card. In undertaking this, they are protecting the
University from possible fraudulent transactions.
The cancelling of cards will cause a number of practical issues
that need to be considered:
Contacting the Cardholder
If MasterCard International cancels a card, the Commonwealth Bank
will contact the cardholder. To help in this matter they have suggested
that the University obtain mobile phone numbers from our cardholders.
This number will then be stored in the BCMS and used to contact
cardholders in the event of their card being cancelled. As such,
if you do have a mobile phone, please email credit.cards@utas.edu.au
with your number.
Backup Emergency Card
If you are travelling it is advisable that you have a backup emergency
credit card in case your Business Card is cancelled. This will need
to be your private credit card.
Emergency Contact

Card has been cancelled please contact MasterCard International

replacement card to you anywhere in the world within 24-48 hours,
