At the AAR Annual Meeting, Boston, Mass., November 20-23, 1999 (IKN 210): Prof. Robert L. Perkins was presented with a plaque commemorating his foundation of the American Søren Kierkegaard Newsletter (originally Perkins Personal Newsletter), the U.S. Kierkegaard Society and the International Kierkegaard Commentary. The plaque says: "Presented to Robert L. Perkins for his outstanding contributions to Kierkegaard Studies. Søren Kierkegaard Society, November 30, 1999". David Gouwens made the presentation speech.
In the programme 'Danmark kort' on Denmark's Radio P1 on 25.5.99 ('Motiver til at laere dansk') Inge Merete Blomqvist spoke about Kierkegaard translator Howard V. Hong as one who had learned Danish in order to study Kierkegaard.
The Mermaid Press, Seattle, Washington are publishing English translations of Scandinavian, especially Danish, writings. They have done an English translation of J.L. Heiberg's A Soul After Death. Mermaid Press, P.O. Box 27551, Seattle, Washington, 89125-2551. Among their other publications are: H.C. Andersen: Brothers, Very Far Away and other Poems and Steen Steensen Blicher: The Diary of a Parish Clerk. Contact person is Sven H. Rossel.
