JAPAN: KIERKEGAARD SOCIETY IN JAPAN (KYOTO): The board of the Kierkegaard Society has elected Dr. Hidetomo Yamashita as president, Prof. Mime Morita as vice-president, Prof. Kinya Masugata as secretary general, and lecturer Satoshi Eguchi as secretary. On May 5th 2002, the Society's Spring Meeting took place at Campus Plaza Kyoto (Kyoto) with the following lectures: Prof. Shin Mizuta: Philosophy after Kierkegaard: Kierkegaard and People Today; Prof. Eiko Hanaoka: Problems of The Self and World in Kierkegaard's Thought. In addition to two general meetings a year the Society also has a workshop at regular intervals during the year. From 2001-2002 the workshop had 7 meetings based on John J. Sinead Ladegaard Knox, Kierkegaard scholar and native speaker of Danish, gave a course in Danish to Kierkegaard scholars for four weeks in July 2002 at the Kierkegaard Library. Sinead Ladegaard Knox comes from Copenhagen.
The Kierkegaard Library Fellowship Program, 2002:
Summer fellowships for research in residence are offered to scholars for use of the collection between June 1 and November 15. The awards include campus housing and a $250.00 U.S. per month stipend. Scholarships are also available at other times of the year.

Residential Fellowships for long-term Research at the Kierkegaard Library, St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, U.S.A. Tenure: two to twelve months. Award: quarters in the Kierkegaard House and a stipend of up to $10.000 U.S. for terms over four months. Each of the three apartments (2 two-bedroom, 1 one-bedroom) provides a living room, kitchen, bath, and single private quarters. The house is situated on the bank of Heath Creek within easy walking distance of the Kierkegaard Library. Supplementary scholarship grants for travel assistance and subsistence may also be made according to individual needs, as well as supplementary grants for the preparation of dissertations and manuscripts for publication. There is a social hour followed by a buffet dinner in The Buttery, Larkin Building, Trinity College, University of Toronto (6.00 p.m.) and at 7.30 p.m. the showing of the Anne Wivel film Søren Kierkegaard (1994 English version).
