Subjects: The library specialises in the Antarctic,
sub-Antarctic, Arctic (if relevant) and cold regions (if relevant).
The collections cover a wide range of subjects including history, geography,
exploration, science, medicine, engineering, law, politics, environment
and tourism.
The collections are developed to support the Division's
full range of activities including policy, research, operation, management
and public relations.
Special collections: ANARE Archives; Antarctic
artefacts; J.K. Davis collection.
Classification: UDC for use in polar libraries.
Electronic sources: Polar bibliographies on CD-ROM
and via internet subscription; electronic journals.
Access: A phone call with a few days notice is
required. Visitors are to sign in at the Reception Desk and obtain a
Visitor's Badge before proceeding to the library.
Borrowing: University staff, postgraduate students
and honours students when registered, can borrow direct. Undergraduates
can borrow through the interlibrary loan system only. The usual
loan period is three weeks if not required by Antarctic Division
staff. Serials (single issues and bound volumes) are not for loan.
Interlibrary loans: Yes. Books and serials are
not in Libraries Australia. Serials list is available on the library Web
site.
Photocopying: No charge for University staff, postgraduate
students and honours students by reciprocal copying arrangement.
Facilities: Work space for three people.

cars in the CSIRO carpark need to obtain a temporary parking permit.
Visitors are required to wear identification tags at all times.
