POTENTIALLY HARMFUL PHYTOPLANKTON SPECIES FROM QATARI WATERS
A preliminary survey of potentially toxic phytoplankton species was carried out in Qatari waters between 1993 and 1997. About 46 taxa were recorded during this survey of which dinoflagellates were the most abundant (25 species). Bacillariophyceae were represented by 17 species and Cyanophyceae (blue-green algae) by 4 species, among which Trichodesmium was most common. These preliminary results are promising for the practical monitoring of fish toxicity in the region. For more information, please contact the conference secretariat: Conference Design Pty.
