Distinguishing features: Common alpine and subalpine shrub, especially in open areas. The leaves are pleasantly scented (Myrtaceae type smell) when crushed. The leaves are small ( a few mm long < 1mm wide and thick) opposite, blunt ended, linear and almost circular in cross section, with glandular dots. Myrtaceae flowers.
