Distinguishing features: "Varnished gum". One of the most extreme of all eucalypts. Subalpine-alpine shrub, which flowers on the juvenile foliage. Leaves thick and small (< 5cm long), juvenile leaves opposite, green, nearly as broad as they are wide, adult leaves alternate, a little more elongated than the juveniles.
