After gaining a Geology BSc from ANU, Dr Garry Davidson worked for three years in the exploration industry. His PhD was undertaken at UTAS and supervised by Professor Ross Large in the very earliest days of IOCG recognition and definition. Garry's PhD evaluated the geology and origin of the Starr and Osborne IOCG deposits, Mt Isa Inlier. Following the award of two five-year ARC fellowships and several smaller postdoctoral company-sponsored projects (for instance, with Western Mining Corp and BHP Billiton), Garry moved to a senior lecturer position involving a large lecturing role in the School of Earth Sciences, but retained his role as a CODES researcher. His lecturing role also includes responsibility for groundwater teaching in the School of Earth Sciences.
