Dr Nathan Fox is a postdoctoral research fellow at CODES. He received his MSc (Hons) degree from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London, in 2005 and his PhD from the University of Tasmania in 2012. Nathan’s PhD research was focused on understanding the structural and geochemical controls on hydrothermal alteration and mineralisation at the Cadia East alkalic porphyry Au-Cu deposit in NSW. Since completing his thesis in December 2011, Nathan has worked on the AMIRA P1060 project Enhanced geochemical targeting in magmatic hydrothermal systems. Nathan received the RSM G.R. Davis Prize for Mining and Mineral Deposits Geology (2004), the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain Prize (2005) and the RSM Ernest Glorney Scholarship in Earth Resources Engineering (2005). At UTAS, Nathan has been co-president, secretary and treasurer of the Society of Economic Geologists Student Chapter and received a Hugh E. McKinstry Student Research Grant Award from the SEG in 2009.
Nathan's research focuses on the genesis of porphyry deposits and the evaluation of their geochemical footprint from the perspective of exploration and hydrothermal fluid processes.
