My research interests are in the areas of Economic Policy, Monetary Economics, Financial Econometrics and Forecasting. I am mainly interested in building statistical forecast models to study the monetary policy framework of small emerging open economies. In addition, I am interested in examining the roles and effects of various intermediate channels in the monetary policy transmission mechanism of these economies, under different policy regimes. My research interest also expands further into issues concerning financial crisis and how vulnerable are the stock markets and exchange rate markets of these small emerging open economies to financial crisis and subsequently their effects on monetary policy.
My teaching and research areas cover a number of disciplines
Over the years, I have acquired valuable teaching and coordinating experience in these disciplines at various levels of education, ranging from pre-university to postgraduate levels and across two continents Australia and Asia (Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong). Prior to joining UTAS, I held academic positions at Monash University and RMIT University.
