About

This conference brings together an impressive group of experts who will be presenting on a range of topics related to global education.

The conference sessions are open to all UTAS staff and students. The topics will be of interest to anyone interested in global issues, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to educators and teachers.

The conference is presented by the UTAS Faculty of Education Global Education Project team and this is part of the Faculty's Summer School and Professional Learning Program.

Program overview:

  • Keynote addresses from expert guest speakers
  • AusAID Country update
  • International NGO presentations (Red Cross, Caritas, World Vision)
  • Speaker symposia and discussions
  • Workshops on global citizenship and education

Keynote speakers: 

  • East Timor expert Professor Damien Kingsbury, Centre for Citizenship, Development and Human Rights at Deakin University.
    Presentation - ‘East Timor: Opportunities and challenges for the next decade’.

  • Ms Anita Planchon, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Special presentations:

  • Ms Camilla Schippa, Director of the Sydney-based Institute for Economics and Peace.
    Presentation - ‘Global Peace Index’.

  • Mr Arthur Burch, AusAID Global Education Program
    Presentation - AusAID update report on Vanuatu.

Conference registration

We would request that participants register for the sessions. There are two options :

  1. Pre-registration
    Email Ms Andrea McCarron on Global.Education@utas.edu.au for the form.

  2. Registration (day/session)
    Register (preferably 9-10am) on the day at the Sir Raymond Farrell Centre.
