Career Summary
Cameron has taught at a variety of secondary schools across northern Tasmania over a period of twenty years. He was previously seconded to the Faculty of Education from 2003-2005. He also engages with Tasmania’s literary community as Director of the annual Tasmanian Poetry Festival and his novel The Blue Cathedral (Forty South Books) was published in November 2011. He is a member of TATE and the Tasmanian Writers Centre, and will appear as a guest poet at the 2012 Queensland Poetry Festival in August.
Research Interests
Cameron hopes to develop a research project around critical pedagogy, specifically relating to the teaching of controversial topics. He is currently completing an MA in Creative Writing.
Cameron’s paper ‘Difficult Permissions: Controversial issues in Middle School English classrooms’ will be delivered at the 2012 AATE conference in Sydney in October.
