Career Summary
Dr McMahon initially completed a Bachelor of Educations (honours) at James Cook University in Cairns. From there, she taught in primary school classrooms in north Queensland before moving to Tasmania where she moved into the University sector.
Dr McMahon has been a member of Faculty staff since 2008, firstly in a casual capacity and then as a fulltime staff member. During this time, Dr McMahon has been awarded with numerous teaching merit awards in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2011, Dr McMahon was awarded with a NARGS grant to pursue post doctoral research around challenging coaching pedagogy. Dr McMahon’s current research areas include sport pedagogy, body practices, sporting cultures, narrative and autoethnographic research.
