Exchange applications and further information
The University of Tasmania has two semesters per year:
- Semester 1 - February to May
- Semester 2 - July to November
We prefer to take international exchange students in semester 1 as this is a better time of year for arranging accommodation and for student orientation.
If you are an undergraduate (pre-service) student with one of our partner institutions and are interested in taking up an exchange opportunity with us, please contact the Faculty for application details and further information:
For more general information on the University's exchange program visit the University of Tasmania International Student Exchange page or contact Ms Marnie Slaghuis
Information about coming to Launceston
Exchange students will study at our Launceston campus. Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania, nestled in the Tamar valley. It has a population of around 100,000 and is a great location from which to explore Tasmania's food, wine and outstanding natural beauty, and if you're lucky you might even spot a Tassie Devil!
Tasmania has also just been named as Lonely Planet's "Top 10 Regions in the World to Visit in 2015".

Launceston is serviced by regular flights from Australia's two major cities, Melbourne and Sydney. There is also a regular ferry service which departs from Melbourne to Devonport (approximately an hours drive away). For further details please see the links below:
Exchange student experiences
"I feel like we are now capable of handling almost anything in a professional setting. We have all had prac experiences that were more challenging than at home because we didn't have our support networks."Casey Adams, Butler University, USA
