All pre-service teachers should consider at least one placement in an isolated, rural or remote school and there are several options available.
All pre-service teachers must consult with the Coordinator, Professional Experience as there are special conditions and expectations attached to rural and remote placements.
The PEIRS program encourages pre-service teachers to undertake their final professional experience in participating rural and isolated schools in Tasmania by providing support for accommodation and travel.
Please contact the Coordinator of Professional Experience for more information
The School of Education offers final professional experience opportunities based in remote indigenous community schools, particularly those in the Kimberley. These placements are not funded - students must be prepared to pay for flights and associated costs.
