Students enrolled in the Health and Physical Education Specialisation within the Bachelor of Education undertake their first Professional Experience Placement as a Swim Placement.
The Swim Placement is the first professional experience placement for students undertaking Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education).
This experience provides pre-service teachers with the opportunity to become familiar with the Tasmanian Swimming and Water Safety Program as well as completing practical requirements for the Austswim qualification.
The swim placement involves active observation and instruction and is conducted over the course of two consecutive weeks on a full-time basis. Throughout their placement, pre-service teachers are required to maintain professional files, as well as trial and evaluate student learning (individuals and small groups), and reflect on their own teaching.
