The Outdoor Education Teaching Specialisation has been designed in such a way, that outdoor education lecturers often teach across units in their areas of expertise. This has meant that I have had the opportunity to teach across many units. I currently teach the final year units along with a unit that spans across all degree programs in the faculty and modes of delivery (online and face to face).
Units
My tertiary career began in 2005 when I was employed to develop and teach an 8 unit Outdoor Education Teaching Specialisation within the Faculty of Education. In 2008 I took on the role of coordinator of the Outdoor Education Teaching Specialisation. In 2010 we implemented a new Outdoor Education Teaching Specialisation within the Bachelor of Education (Secondary Specialisations). Throughout the development of the program, strong partnerships have been made with a number of community groups, including local schools and the polytechnic.
I am a committed member of the Tasmanian Outdoor Education Teachers Association (TOETA) and a board member for Outdoor Education Australia (OEA) where I represent Tasmanian Outdoor Education in a National Context. Prior to coming to the University of Tasmania, I taught Outdoor Education in a variety of workplaces across Australia in a variety of contexts and programs.
