I am presently the Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning). I have been teaching in the Faculty of Education since 2007, and prior to that was employed as a training and management consultant in Singapore, where I worked throughout the Asian region with major international corporations such as Microsoft, Michelin and Dow Corning as well as corporate universities including Prudential University, based in Hong Kong. My experience is largely situated within adult and vocational education, as well as human resource management and development.
In 2011 I commenced my PhD under the supervision of Professor Jan Herrington (Murdoch University) and Associate Professor Sharon Fraser (UTAS). My research aims to investigate an alternative pedagogical approach in a teacher education course; specifically a set of principles of applied learning design. I hope that my research will inform teacher education courses within UTAS and more broadly, where an authentic, applied learning focus may increase student engagement and more effectively prepare graduates for their career.
Within the Faculty of Education, I am involved in several committees, most recently the Teaching and Research Group (Teacher Pedagogy). My research interests also extend to investigating the perceptions of teaching staff who are working within fully online teacher preparation programs.
