Kathryn is a primary school teacher on secondment from the Department of Education. Her extensive teaching experience in primary education over more than twenty-five years has included service in a range of urban and rural schools. She has taught early childhood and primary grades in that time and has taught composite grade, straight grade and single sex classes and in team teaching situations. She has worked with a number of special needs students and students with a range of learning difficulties. During her career in Primary schools she has been subject co-ordinator in The Arts, Literacy, Science and Behaviour Management. In 2009 Kathryn was a Mentor teacher in the Partnerships in Teaching Excellence initiative between the Department of Education (DoE) and the University of Tasmania (UTAS). In this role she assisted pre-service teachers to better integrate theory and practice as well as develop their repertoire of teaching strategies and skills.
