Engagement Days (or Evenings) are opportunities for students studying online to meet with UTAS staff and other students studying online in the same area.
The feedback we receive from students tells us that these engagement events are extremely useful and a real boost to motivation (read some of the comments further down this page).
In Semester 1 we are running Engagement Days in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Launceston and Burnie.
These events are open to all current distance students, in all education courses.
Students must register in advance
To attend, students are obliged to register in advance and this is achieved by completing a simple online registration form.

If you are in any doubt as to the value of these events, here's what some of our students said about the last Engagement Days in March this year.
"I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Engagement Day in Melbourne yesterday. It was such a great opportunity to meet other people. It is easy to feel very alone and isolated studying in this mode and yesterday really made me feel that I was part of a greater student community. It was the boost to my motivation that I needed and confirmed for me that I have made the right choice in pursing this degree and that I can do it. The tasks we completed during the day really allowed me to come home and think about how I am approaching my work, and I have actually made some big changes to an assignment I am working on because of some of the information I gathered yesterday. It has been invaluable and I hope that there will be more in the future. I have studied previously at another institution and from that experience I can tell you that the support given at UTAS to distance students is second to none."
"Just a quick email to say thanks for coming back to SA. It was a refreshing boost to my learning and will help get me through this semester. I'm so glad I decided to attend."
"I had a warm fuzzy feeling and found myself grinning for some time after leaving the Engagement Day. It wasn't any one incident or discussion that caused this. The opportunity to stop and revisit the expectations of the course is always welcome. The chance to do that with peers reaffirms that we are part of something and highlights where we are in the journey.& There is also the aspect that we off-campus students have the chance to show our dedication and passion for learning in this forum. At the same time that you are able to actually 'see' us as human and passionate, we are able to see that in you. I, for one, appreciate that you took a weekend away to engage with us."
