Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

I did a little bit of education on work experience back in year 10 and loved the experience. So I did a little bit of volunteering in some after school care programs and after a gap year working as a teacher aide, I realised that this was the path I wanted.

I heard about the University of Tasmania through my sisters going here. They loved their experiences here and pretty much influenced me into staying here for university.

By studying here at the University of Tasmania in the Education Faculty it has helped me grow in confidence in being able to educate children. Currently I am still studying on campus so I work at KFM fitness as a personal trainer and also as a teacher aide at Scotch Oakburn Middle School. At KFM I do classes as well as personal sessions and a bit of office work. At Scotch Oakburn I work with learning support and help funded students in classrooms with their core subjects.

My plans for the future are to qualify and finish here at the University of Tasmania and then get a job teaching hopefully in Launceston.

My highlights of my time at the university so far? Whilst studying I was able to in 2013 win the Stawell Gift. Also just making some of my best mates.

My advice to future students would be to enjoy the experience and do as much as you can while you can. These are some of the best days you can have.
